Active-Passive Monitor

SE AP-SW

Active-Passive Subwoofer System |

The SE AP-SW employs a multi-chamber, multi-resonant architecture to achieve controlled low-frequency behavior without reliance on DSP correction.

Three active 8-inch woofers and three passive 8-inch radiators operate within six individually tuned enclosures, each aligned to a distinct resonant frequency. This distributes acoustic energy across the entire low-frequency spectrum, reduces localized resonance buildup, and stabilizes behavior in real rooms.

By managing resonance acoustically rather than suppressing it electronically, the AP-SW extends the AP Series with low-frequency reproduction that preserves timing coherence, spatial stability, and natural integration with the AP-1 and AP-2 monitoring systems.

Rather than concentrating low-frequency energy around a single dominant resonance, the SE AP-SW distributes acoustic loading across multiple tuned chambers to broaden energy release through the operating range. This helps excite room modes more evenly, reducing the sharp peaks and localized buildup typical of more conventional subwoofer alignments. With a 60 Hz crossover and broad low-frequency radiation, the AP-SW is engineered to support the SE AP Series Monitors with controlled integration, low distortion, and more stable low-frequency behavior across real-room placements.
