SE MF-20

Monitoring at the Edge of Possibility

Developed from the advanced platform of the SE MF-2.1, the SE MF-20 represents STRAUSS ELEKTROAKUSTIK’s most uncompromising monitoring system to date. Originally conceived for scientific and psychoacoustic research applications, the system is built upon a compound system architecture designed to minimize non-linearities and mechanical energy storage.

This approach allows for a consistent focus on linearity, low distortion, wide bandwidth, and virtually unrestricted dynamic range. The result is a monitoring system capable of revealing the smallest spatial, tonal, and temporal structures within a recording while preserving a natural, coherent, and emotionally convincing musical presentation.

Compared to the SE MF-2.1, the SE MF-20 offers significantly lower harmonic and non-linear distortion, together with extended bandwidth and greater dynamic capability.

The SE MF-20 employs a two-way architecture with a low crossover frequency of 450 Hz, effectively achieving a point-source design with broad, homogeneous dispersion. Despite its scale and output capability, the system maintains exceptional spatial coherence, image stability, and consistency throughout the listening environment.

The system supports operation as both a QB3 bass reflex alignment and a sealed enclosure with a Qtc of 0.5, allowing low-frequency behavior to be adapted to the room, installation, and listening priorities of the user.

The SE MF-20 leverages a compound system architecture to minimize non-linearities and mechanical energy storage, building upon the foundational research of the SE MF-2.1. By incorporating SE OEM underhung motor systems and maintaining constant voice coil magnetic flux, the design achieves significantly reduced harmonic distortion and superior transient precision. The 450 Hz crossover facilitates a coherent, virtual point-source wavefront, while the enclosure’s modular nature—supporting both QB3 bass reflex and sealed (Qtc = 0.5) configurations—enables surgical adaptation to the acoustic impedance of any critical listening environment.
