SE REQ-1S

Reference Monitoring & Room Equalizer |

The SE REQ-1S is a fully analog equalization system designed for critical monitoring environments, allowing precise refinement of tonal balance and room-related spectral imbalances while preserving the spatial accuracy, depth, and dynamics of the original signal.

Developed as an extension of the Strauss Elektroakustik monitoring system, the SE REQ-1S is configured using external measurement tools during installation only. Once calibrated, it operates as a fixed, fully analog device — with no DSP, no app, no additional conversion, and no ongoing digital processing.

The result is a monitoring environment that remains natural, stable, and trustworthy, allowing critical decisions to translate with confidence across systems and environments.

Key Features

  • Fully analog monitoring calibration refines tonal balance without DSP, software, or additional conversion.
  • 18 independently configurable peaking filters allows precise correction of room- and system-related spectral deviations.
  • Independent high & low shelving filters provides broad target-curve shaping for overall system balance.
  • Dual-mono stereo architecture left and right channels can be calibrated independently for accurate imaging.
  • Measurement-guided setup only external measurement tools guide calibration during installation, but are not part of playback.
  • Set-and-forget operation once configured, the unit remains fixed, stable, and repeatable.
  • Designed for monitoring systems and rooms intended as the final analog calibration stage in mastering, mixing, and critical listening environments.

The SE REQ-1S is designed around a single principle: correct the monitoring system without compromising the signal. All processing is performed using precision analog filter networks directly within the monitoring path. Each of the 18 parametric bands is continuously variable, allowing exact alignment to measured system response without quantization, latency, or digital phase manipulation. The dual-mono architecture treats the left and right channels as independent systems, allowing accurate correction of real-world asymmetries in room acoustics, speaker placement, and boundary conditions. This is critical for preserving stereo imaging and spatial integrity. Designed to be implemented after proper loudspeaker placement and acoustic treatment, the SE REQ-1S serves as the final stage of refinement — delivering a monitoring system that is stable, repeatable, and trustworthy over time.
